We attempt to take as deatiled an Image as possible of both the Obverse and Reverse of all coins and currency, While we try and accurately grade each coin, as coin grading is subjective, we encourage you to asses the pictures yourself and make a grading judgement yourself. We always 100% guarantee authenticity, but we do not guarantee any specific grade, nor do we guarantee that NGC or PCGS or any other grading company will agree to grade the coin. We strive for your repeat business and do everything we can to accurately photograph and describe the coin/currency.
Nice almost White Uncirculated example of this very scarce and only Dollar Commemorative of the entire old Silver Commemorative series. Struck to commemorate General Lafayette and help cover the costs of a statue given by the US to the city of Paris. The coins were also to celebrate the Exposition in Paris in 1900. Also 1899 was the 100th anniversary of Washington's death When examining a Lafayette Dollar evidence of wear first appears on Washington's cheekbone and on Lafayette's lower curls. On the reverse, check the highest points of the design—the boot, thigh and rear leg of the horse. Also it is noted that This coin has a few Firsts, it is the first commemorative dollar ever struck, the first officially issued coin to depict a former President, and the first coin to show the same person (Lafayette) on both sides. Coin World's Coin Values lists ms63 at $2000 and The Wholesale Greysheet lists ms63 at $1500. Estimated Value $1750
