This beautiful green hound handled pitcher was made by the Vance Avon Faience Potter Company between 1900 and 1908. These pitchers were made from molds obtained from the US Pottery Co. in Bennington, VT when they ceased operation in the late 1850's. This pitcher has wonderful relief molded vines and grapes on the upper section with a beautifully detailed hunt scene on lower section. There is some very light crazing, no chips or cracks. It measures 8 3/4" to the pouring spout and 9 3/4" to the top of the hound&'s head and weighs 3 pounds 7 ounces. A rare beauty acquired from the estate of a former antique dealer.
