WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE (2009) - Carol's (James Gandolfini) Eye Display - Carol's (James Gandolfini) eye display from Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are. Max (Max Records) ran away from home and came across an island with large monsters called Wild Things where he befriended one of the monsters, Carol, whose behaviors mimicked Max's.

Where the Wild Things Are was nominated for 54 awards and ultimately won seven. Some of the awards include a Broadcast Music Inc Film and TV Award for Film Music, a National Board of Review USA Award for Top Ten Films, and a Young Artists Award to Max Records for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Leading Young Actor.

This ornately detailed Wild Thing eye with a sculpted gold-color core, lifelike brown latticework veins, and a dental acrylic coating was created by key artist Rob Hinderstein at Stan Winston Studios. The eye was inserted into a hand-painted, hand-textured foam and resin Wild Thing socket display with synthetic fur to demonstrate the monster's potential eye. The eye is now permanently installed in the display and remains static with a clear acrylic rod and a hand-painted boat named "MAX" adhered to a river-like base. The display exhibits cracked foam and minor paint flaking from age. Dimensions: 13" x 7.5" x 6.25" (33 cm x 19 cm x 16 cm)

Estimate: $8,000 - 16,000
