<B>1900<$20> MS65 PCGS.</B></I> David Akers calls this issue one of the two or three most common dates in the Liberty Head double eagle series, and says that there are plenty of Choice and Gem Uncirculated examples to go around. This assessment is not entirely supported by the current population figures from the main third-party grading services, however, where there are plenty of near-Gems but not many Gems. This example displays rich orange-gold and pale mint-green toning and full shimmering luster. It is well struck and has been expertly preserved. Population: 49 in 65, 2 finer (9/06).
