This issue honors General Lafayette, who voluntarily traveled from France at age 19 to join the American Revolution, and served ably on the staff of George Washington. This highly lustrous near-Gem displays a narrow zone of cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-brown patina at the margins. A well executed strike emboldens the design elements, and a few obverse ticks define the grade.
