18th. century celadon jade carving in shape of a large flower with a butterfly resting on. This is the highest quality of jade carving of Qien Lung period, done in homogenous, flawless, celadon jade. The stems and dendritic branches are carved in open work and in high relief. Length: 2" (5 cm.). The price of white jade carvings (even the modern jade carvings)increased 10 fold times in the past few years due to tremendous demand from China. Provenance: Dr' Veleanu's jade collection, the author of collectors' textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors". Estimated retail value: $2800.
