18th. century white jade hand-carved in shape of a phoenix bird holding a ling zhi sprig in its beak and standing on a tall round container. It is a remarkable quality miniature carving in homogenous flawless white jade. This is a master work dating to the period of emperor Qien Lung that reigned China for 60 years at the peak of thriving arts. Length: 2.5" (6.5 cm.). Width: 1.8" (4.5 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors' textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD". Estimaated value: $2.000.
