The is a rare 18th century Petit Carrousel factory French Paris porcelain sauce bowl decorated in the Neoclassical Sevres style with beautifully hand painted bouquets of garden flowers in a scattered spray. Cornflowers, roses, etc. Circa 1780's Neoclassical style. The edge is painted with gold gilt trim and gold swags of drapery. Gold gilt attached ring handles. The bowl is marked with a crowed C P in iron red on the back. Very good condition but missing it's lid. Height 3" 1/2 by 11" long by 7" wide.

Petit Carrousel was located at le Carousel courtyard of the Louvre in Paris France on rue de Peti Carrousel. This was a porcelain salesroom that sold porcelain from other factory's like rue Thiroux and Manufacture de duc d' Angouleme. This piece was probably made by the manufacture de duc d' Angouleme see pae 99 in Faience et porcelaine de Paris 1995. by Regine de Plival De Guillebon. On this page is a sauce boat in the same molding as this one.

As of 1770, a large number of porcelain factories were set up in the capital. In order to avoid the royal privileges that banned production outside the Royal Manufactories (Sèvres, Vincennes, etc) and to have the right to produce, factories placed themselves under the protection of leading personalities (Comte de Provence, Comte d?Artois, Duc d?Orléans, and others).
