18th century hanger with eagle head pommel and eagles on cross guard with its original silver mounted scabbard. The blade measures 24-1/2” and the sword is 30-3/4” overall. The blade 1” thick at the ricasso and shows adeep blood grove that extends to the tip and a smaller blood groove following the top back edge. The blade shows a deep brown patina and some minor pitting with traces of light engraving. The grip was dyed green andwrapped with silver. The scabbard is broken at the center mount and needs repair, shows distress and aging. Probably French made but of a style that was popular in America and could have been imported. Est.; $2,000-$4,000
