18th century carved ivory powder flask attributed to Deop. The flask measures 10 ½” overall, magnificently carved with intertwining game scenes on one side, while the other side depicts gothic and battlescenes. The flask has a dog head spout. A stunning work of art superior to many depicted in the definitive work on high art flasks, “The Sumptuous Flask”, by Herbert Houze. The condition is near fine with onlynormal yellowing and patina with a long crack at the seam, age cracks and checking. Letters of appraisal from two noted European arms experts included as to the age and origin of the piece. A nine on a scale of1-10, suitable for a sophisticated collector or museum.
