Pair of sterling silver sugar tongs, stamped inside with maker?s mark C.H. (Charles Hougham, of London - later half of 18th century, circa 1769-1790 ) and the Lion Passant sterling mark. The shoulders are engraved with a pretty, simple design of flowers on a curving stem. The edges of the tongs are a feathery pattern, and the bowls are acorns. The initials ?E * R? are engraved faintly on the exterior of the curved part of the handle. Tongs measure 13.5 cm long (5.1/4 inches). Excellent condition. Weight: Approx. 20 to 22 grams.
