18th Century Miner’s axe with Flintlock pistol attached and concealed dagger within shaft probably mid European or possibly Czech. The oddity measures 38-1/2” overall, the bore is approx 44 cal with barrel portion approx 4”. The exposed metal shows a dark patina with natural erosion and pinprick pitting. The wood stocks and shaft show a red painted finish of which 75% remains. The ram rod is missing from the front end and is easily replaced. The action does not stay cocked but works. The blade shows some minor pitting and the brass ferules show one small old repair. An absolutely original to the period oddity. From an old New Yorkcollector’s estate. Est.; $750-$1,500.
