This 18th century Od Paris cup & saucer with a Chantilly Sprig/cornflower design were made in Paris at the end of the 18th Century and bear a mark for Andre Marie Le Boeuf at Rue Thiroux, The Queens factory Marie Antoinette. Andre Marie Leboeuf established an hard paste porcelain factory on the rue Thiroux in 1778. His wares immediately met with such phenomenal success that in the following year he was heavily fined for trenching upon the privileges reserved to Sevres. After his uncomfortable experience with Sevres and the police authorities, Leboeuf secured the protecting patronage of the Queen, who gave him the right to mark his china with her monogram or initial. She gave him further encouragement by ordering from him some of the china for her dairy at Versailles, and other various choice pieces which she gave to friends. Painted with decor de la Rene or cornflower pattern. This pattern was first painted on Sevres porcelain For French Queen Marie Antoinette about 1774. Cornflowers were favored by Marie Antoinette. The cornflower pattern is regarded as a classic Louis XVI porcelain pattern. The pieces are in good condition with no chips or cracks but there is wear to the decoration and gilding on the saucer from use and to the gilding on the rim of the cup.

Size: Saucer is 5.25" in diameter, cup is 3.5" across the rim and 2.25" high
