Red sanguine Ink-HIGHLY DECORATIVE

This stunning 18th C. French engraving was discovered in Paris and the work is wonderfully decorative, housed in a period gilt frame. The image is an early work depicting the form of a young nude woman standing in profile, holding a long drape of cloth. A French inscription in the lower corner informs that the work was "Tire du Cabinet de Mr. Lagrenee Peintre" . A paper label on the back of the work reads: Cadres Anciens - ERNEST JACOB- 90 rue de Vaugirard PARIS.

Executed in an elegant reddish/brown colored ink (sanguine), this handsome engraving has an enchanting atmosphere. Large and commanding, the piece is sure to be a focal point in any setting, the strong composition and elegant period presentation adding significantly to the works appeal. Expected of a work of this vintage, the engraving has a few small tears, foxing marks and signs of age. The frame has chips and small losses adding to the works decorative charm.

The framed engraving measures approximately: 27.5"x 20"
