18TH century Snapphaunce fowling piece, left sideplate signed “Giovani Fabbri”. The barrel shows a rampant lion and maker’s cartouche with reclining animal with man’s face and name “Pisfoia”. Approx. 16ga, 48” medium tolight weight barrel, 62-3/4” overall. Half-stocked, showing nicely pierced and gold-gilted brass mounts. Circa early to mid 18th century. The metal surfaces show an even light brown patina finish with somescattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The stocks show some small restorations, repair, and slight refinishing, and some small losses around the lock area. The mounts show traces of gilding within their natural patina. Themounts show some light engraving, and there are some small areas of wood replacement, which is neatly done long ago, probably during use. The wooden ramrod has been broken at its end. The gun is working and pointsnicely and weighs approx. approx. 5.5lbs. The Fabbri name is still legendary in shotgun making. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
