Horse defense (Chanfron) circa early to Mid-16th century. Noted Glorietta, New Mexico antiquities dealer/collector Jeff Hengesbaugh places at time of De Soto’s expedition and probably Spanish. Measures approximately 15” x 11” showing heavy natural aging (No chemicals applied) with dark patina on brass rivets. Losses to ears and top. Excavated long ago. Absolutely genuine and not a Victorian or later reproduction with stand. Est.: $5,000-$10,000
