1899 S$1 PR66 PCGS. The otherwise even endowment of olive-copper toning on the obverse yields to lilac-gray shadings over the upper left. Similar colors are also seen on the reverse, but the latter hue dominates the outward appearance on that side. The underlying proof qualities in the fields are evident at a few direct angles, but razor sharp striking definition is appreciable after even the most cursory glance. We cannot find a single mentionable handling mark, and, in our opinion, the PCGS designation of PR66 is completely accurate. One of only 330,846 Morgan Dollars produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1899, and desirable as such. From the Trane Collection.
