This shotgun was presented to George McCann who was the one time President and real estate broker for the St. Louis Game Park Corporation. There is a 2 1/2 inch silver oval affixed to the belly of the stock inscribed "Presented to/Maj. GEO. H. McCann" over a list of eight names over "November, 1899". Single brass bead sight on a matte concave solid rib marked "CHARLES DALY FINE DAMASCUS BARRELS". 2 1/2 inch chambers, choked extra full/improved cylinder with ejectors. The water table and barrel flats are marked with various proof marks as well as "PRUSSIA" on each side of the water table. The box lock action with cocking indicators has a light scroll engraving and marked "CHARLES DALY" on each side. The engraving pattern extends to the break lever and trigger guard. Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety. And mounted with a checkered walnut splinter forearm with ebony forend insert and round knob pistol grip stock with teardrop flats and serrated horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 inches. The shotgun comes with a copy of the book "The Shepard of the Hills", by Harold Bell Wright, two brass wall hangers, a pebble grain mutton case with an affixed brass oval inscribed "G.H. McCann/Springfield/Mo" and a copy of information regarding the St. Louis Game Park.

Condition: Very fine. The barrels retain 70% original brown finish and Damascus pattern. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth silver gray patina with strong original case colors in the protected areas of the upper tang under the break lever and around the fences. The wood is fine with a minor repaired crack on the forearm, a few scattered minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine. The mutton case is good with a separated strap on the outer pouch, some moderate wear and scuffs and the lid is absent.
