<B>1898-S<$20> MS65 NGC.</B></I> This is one of the most beautiful examples of the 1898-S double eagle that we have ever seen. The shimmering cartwheel luster on each side illuminates absolutely gorgeous deep rose-gold toning. The obverse is nearly pristine, and the reverse is also blemish-free, with a handful of small, scattered red-orange alloy spots that are far from being a significant distraction. This issue is scarce at the Gem level of preservation, and virtually unobtainable any finer. Census: 89 in 65, 6 finer (9/06).
