<B>1898 50C PR68 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> This year saw 735 proofs produced. A high percentage of those coins have apparently survived, as around 500 have been graded by NGC and PCGS. Only about twenty-five percent of that number have received either the Cameo or Deep Cameo designation, however; and the currently offered specimen is the single highest-graded coin at PCGS, among those in the Cameo category.<BR> This piece shows frosty devices, strongly contrasted against the highly reflective fields. Low-intensity, variegated gold, violet, and pale blue toning presents a thin film over each side, in no way impeding the coin's reflectivity. The design elements exhibit razor-sharp definition, and no marks of any consequence are apparent over the amazingly well preserved surfaces. This piece will be a striking addition to any advanced Barber half dollar collection.
