<B>1898 10C MS68 NGC.</B></I> An intensely toned Superb Gem with frosty luster beneath rich ivory, sunset-orange, and sky-blue color. This example is fully struck with pristine surfaces. Minor die cracks can be seen on both sides, some in the fields and others through the devices. This is a relatively common date, although the present example is the only MS68 certified by either PCGS or NGC. This is an example of the Normal Date variety for the year. Walter Breen reported a second variety for the date, which he termed a possible overdate, although its overdate status is highly doubted.
