1897-S $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1897-S twenty dollar is found in fairly large numbers in grades below MS63. Near-Gems are available with patience and a little searching, and higher-graded pieces are relatively far and few between. Additionally, as Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth say: "As with most Liberty Head double eagles, the surfaces of most coins seen are heavily abraded." The near-Gem presented in this lot is certainly an exception to this assertion. There are a few light marks and luster grazes to preclude full Gem status, but the lustrous yellow-gold surfaces laced with subtle hints of mint-green are essentially well preserved. The design elements are exceptionally well struck.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
