<B>1897-O S$1 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> The 1897-O is one of those Morgan dollar issues that gets no respect. Many are found with insipid luster, weak strikes, or a combination of those, and Gem examples are nearly unheard of. The present near-Gem features radiant cartwheel luster, superb surface appearance, good coloration in the form of a light silver-gold cast with slight tinges of lilac, and a good if not full strike. Only light abrasions prevent the Gem grade, but the eye appeal is extremely high.
