<B>1897-O $1 MS63 PCGS.</B></I> Several factors combine to explain the rarity of the 1897-O in the finer Mint State grades. Poor luster, inadequate striking definition, and careless preservation explain the conditionally challenging status of this issue. The present example, on the other hand, is sharply struck throughout. The luster, is above average for the type, and there are only a few small-to-moderate ticks toward the centers.
