<B>1897 Cleveland Spiders Game Program with Cy Young, Jesse Burkett.</B></I> Almost certainly the only surviving specimen of its kind, this simple, ancient four-page scorecard recounts an October 3, 1897 meeting between the Cleveland National League club and a Canton, Ohio minor league franchise, played just after the close of the Spiders' season. Young's name is circled as the pitcher on the mound for the team this game, just two weeks removed from his no-hit victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Fellow Hall of Famer Jesse Burkett bats lead-off, with Bobby Wallace in the number three spot. The program was folded into thirds, and exhibits expected edge and spine wear, but remains solid and complete with no tears or stains.
