<B>1897 50C PR65 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> Judging from the population figures, a fairly large number of the 731 proof half dollars that were struck in 1897 have survived. Relatively few have received the cameo designation, however, especially in Gem and better condition. This essentially untoned specimen displays an almost white-on-black contrast, and is devoid of all but a few minor obverse handling marks. The design features are sharply impressed, except for the usual weakness in the upper right corner of the shield and adjacent feathers.
