This is a very nice example of an early wartime commercial Model 1896 Broomhandle Mauser pistol that is complete with an original Mauser combination shoulder stock/holster. The pistol has the rust blued finish with the heat blued trigger, elevation slide and safety lever. It is fitted with a set of walnut grips with serrations on both sides. The top of the chamber is marked "WAFFENFABRIK / MAUSER/ OBERNDORF A/N" with a "crown/ U" proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel extension, the right side of the frame has the standard two line "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A. NECKAR" (very weak in center) marking with the left side of the frame unmarked. The front of the magazine well has been stamped with "4AR". It has the standard tangent rear sight graduated from 50-1000 meters with the fixed blade front sight, milled panel frame and lanyard loop ring on the butt. As noted it is complete with an original Mauser combination walnut shoulder stock/holster with an original attaching iron numbered "623" on top.
BBL: 5 1/2 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 7.63 mm Mauser
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 219315
Condition: Refurbished with 98% of the postwar blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall with some blue loss on the rear grip strap, the underside of the barrel towards the muzzle, the front frame rails and edges of the magazine box. The visible numbers are all matching (except the attaching iron). The walnut shoulder stock is in very good condition showing an old minor sanding overall with a nice light walnut color with no cracks or damage. The original Mauser attaching iron has also been reblued but clearly shows the three digits of the serial number on top.
