<B>1896-S S$1 MS63 PCGS.</B></I> Ex: Redfield. The famed hoard of eccentric investor, gambler, and multimillionaire LaVere Redfield, of Reno, Nevada, amounted to more than 400,000 silver dollars at the time of his death in 1974. This piece displays a ring of magenta and amber-gold toning around the rims on each side, with brilliant silver centers and radiant luster. A noticeable series of reeding marks on the eagle's breast and less-distracting abrasions elsewhere--perhaps the result of decades of storage behind the <I>faux</B></I> wall in Redfield's basement--account for the grade.
