<B>1896-S 25C AU50 NGC.</B></I> Obverse Die 2, Reverse Die 2 (per David Lawrence's second edition of <I>The Complete Guide to Barber Quarters).</B></I> The 1 in the date is centered over the right edge of a denticle, and the 8 is nearly centered over a denticle. The mintmark is lower than on Reverse Die 1, and closer to the R than the D in QUARTER DOLLAR. This example is well detailed and evenly worn, with scattered small abrasions on each side. The peripheries are decorated by attractive, speckled green, russet-red, gold, and tan patina.
