<B>1896-S $20 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> The date collector searching for the finest possible 1896-S double eagle has three choices. He can wait, perhaps a generation, until the incredible MS67 Eliasberg coin becomes available. He can wait for the single NGC-graded MS65 specimen, bearing in mind that it too may not come up for sale for years and adding that even an image of the piece may be impossible to come by. Or he can choose to bid on a coin like the present piece, an appealing MS64 specimen with bright, mostly green-gold surfaces and complete luster. The strike is a bit weak on the upper obverse stars and the denomination, yet that is not uncommon with this date.
