<B>1896 S$1 MS66 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS.</B></I> After years of declining mintages, Philadelphia produced close to 10 million silver dollars in 1896. As one might expect, these are common up to the MS65 level. Deep Mirror pieces are substantially scarcer, but nearly all are in MS62 to MS65 grades. At the MS66 level, the 1896 is more rare as a DMPL business strike than as a proof. This well struck and nearly untoned example is remarkably well preserved, and betrays its commercial origins only on the obverse dentils, which slope toward the fields.
