<B>1896 5C MS65 PCGS.</B></I> This is one of the rarest dates in the entire Liberty nickel series in Gem or finer grades. Just 53 examples of this date have been certified in MS65 or finer grades by PCGS, placing it in a tie with 1885 for the third lowest population. Only 1886 (33 pieces) and 1888 (50 pieces) have lower Gem populations. An impressive example of the date, this piece has frosty nickel-gray mint luster with wispy champagne toning on both sides.
