<B>1896<5C> Five Cents, Judd-1770, Pollock-1987, Low R.6, PR63 NGC.</B></I> This Charles Barber design uses a Federal shield as its primary motif. Behind the shield are two crossed poles bearing a liberty cap and eagle. A scroll passing in front of the shield is inscribed LIBERTY. The denomination 5 CENTS is centered within a curved olive sprig on the reverse. Struck in a nickel alloy with a plain edge. This well struck and slightly subdued specimen has a small strike-thru beneath the I in PLURIBUS, and a few pinpoint carbon flecks on the reverse.
