1895-S$1> MS64 PCGS. The 1895-S is a scarce and highly respected issue from the mid-1890s. Only 400,000 pieces were struck, and just a few bags were released by the San Francisco Mint. The best-known hoard was a bag that was a part of LaVere Redfield's extensive holdings of silver dollars. However, most of Redfield's coins are typical of what is normally seen of this issue: numerous and heavy abrasions. This piece is atypically clean with only the smallest marks on each side. As such, this should be a coin of considerable interest to a number of advanced Morgan dollar specialists. Brilliant throughout, the fields are semi-prooflike and the striking definition is strong but not quite fully detailed. Simply outstanding quality with eye appeal that would be hard to duplicate at the MS65 level.
