FLORENCE MARION HOWE HALL (1845-1922). American Writer and Lecturer on Women’s Suffrage, along with her two sisters Received the First Pulitzer Prize for a Biography of her mother, Julia Ward Howe.
March 2, 1895-Dated, Autograph “Florence Howe Hall” on a collector’s card, no place, Extremely Fine. Mrs. Hall signs in ink on a small card measuring 2.5” x 4.” Her long signature measures a full 3.75” long. Two small, silver-colored adhesive stickers appear on either side of her signature, the left one just touching the F of Florence from a prior display. Hall was the daughter of the famous Julia Ward Howe, author of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Florence’s autographs are quite scarce, as this is the first one we’ve ever offered.
Florence Marion Howe Hall (August 25, 1845 - April 10, 1922) was an American writer, critic, and lecturer about women's suffrage in the United States. Along with her two sisters, Laura Elizabeth Richards and Maude Howe Elliott, Hall received the first Pulitzer Prize for a biography of her mother, Julia Ward Howe.
