<B>1895<50C> PR68 NGC.</B></I> The cachet of the 1895 date carries over from the famous dollar of that year to the half dollar series as evidenced by the familiar mintage of 880 pieces. This is an immaculately preserved proof that has no hairlines on either side. The fields, of course, are bright and mirror-like and they flash strongly through the considerable toning that is seen on each side. The obverse actually has a brilliant lower half, but that deepens quickly toward the top of that side to reddish-golden and cobalt-blue. The reverse is much deeper in hue with the same reddish-golden color spread evenly over that side and sea-green around the periphery. An outstanding proof half from this widely recognized and respected date. Census: 12 in 68, 0 finer (9/06).
