1895 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS.
1895 $2 1/2 MS66 PCGS. Yearly mintage figures for the Liberty Quarter Eagle failed to top 1 million coins from 1862 through the end of the series in 1907. The 1895 (6,119 pieces produced) is generally regarded as the last of the rare dates (although the 1896-1907 issues are scarce to one degree or another in the finer Mint State grades). There are only two finer examples of this issue known to NGC and PCGS. A glorious representative, both sides are intensely lustrous with a frosty sheen that yields to modest brightness in the fields at direct angles. Needle sharp striking definition is seen throughout, but not a single area reveals an abrasion of note. Worthy of inclusion in the finest 19th century gold collection. Population: 10 in 66, 0 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
