1895 10C MS67 NGC. CAC. Numismatists from the late 1800s concentrated on Washingtonia and other specialized fields. Unsurprisingly, relatively few examples of any Barber denomination were saved in Mint State. Not only was the present piece preserved, however, but it was kept in virtually unimprovable condition. The utterly brilliant, snow-white surfaces of this Superb Gem dime display amazingly bright, coruscating luster. With a combination of exemplary visual appeal and the challenges posed by the semi-key issue (mintage of 690,000 pieces), this crisply struck example rates as one of the most desirable pieces a date collector could acquire. NGC and PCGS have certified just four Superb Gems between them, with only one of the NGC examples graded above MS67 (1/08).

Coin Engraver: Charles E.
