<B>1894 S$1 PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Proofs from 1894 have always been more popular and more in demand by collectors because of the scarcity of Philadelphia minted business strikes from this year. Only 972 proofs were produced. This is among the more attractive examples certified. The surfaces are brilliant throughout and the devices are overlaid with significant mint frost, which when set against the deeply mirrored fields yields a stark white-on-black contrast. After several years of producing less-than-full strikes on proofs, 1894 was the first year the Mint once again struck proofs with complete central definition, as seen on this piece.
