<B>1894 S$1 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> In <I>A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars,</B></I> Dave Bowers provided an Optimal Collecting Grade for every issue, defined as: "The author's opinion of a grade offering a combination of high preservation and reasonable market place--a lot of coin for the money." For the 1894 Philadelphia Mint dollar, Bowers recorded MS64 as the Optimal Collecting Grade.<BR> Just 110,000 of these coins were produced in 1894, and survivors are rarely encountered any finer than this piece. In fact, among non-prooflike coins, PCGS has only certified 20 better pieces. This example is fully brilliant with frosty silver luster and sharp design elements.
