1894$1> MS64 PCGS. David Bowers (1993) notes that the 1894 was once a major rarity, as very few had been released into circulation In the 1950s and early 1960s, several 1,000-coin bags of Uncirculated '94 dollars were put on the market. This issue is relatively available through the MS63 grade level; near-Gems are scarce, and finer pieces are rare. The current MS64 specimen displays lustrous surfaces covered in cobalt-blue and lavender toning on the obverse, and orange-gold patina with occasional peripheral cobalt-blue accents on the reverse. With the exception of the hair curls over Liberty's ear, the design elements are nicely brought up. Small linear abrasions on the cheek and neck, and a few small marks on the eagle, limit the grade. PCGS has seen 20 pieces grading finer (2/06).
