<B>1894 50C PR66 NGC.</B></I> A sharply detailed Gem proof example, save for minor weakness in the upper right corner of the shield, this piece approaches the finest quality ever seen for the date. Walter Breen (1977) writes that these coins are "Usually only available badly cleaned." Both sides have notable contrast, and are visited with dapples of iridescent cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-brown, that display somewhat deeper hues on the obverse.
