<B>1894 $20 MS64 NGC.</B></I> By 1894, the American double eagle was a well-established coin of choice for international trade, and millions of the sizable gold pieces found their way overseas, only to return as collectors' items decades later. The slightly hazy apricot-gold surfaces have strong luster, and the devices exhibit above-average detail. A few scattered marks, none worthy of individual mention, preclude Gem status.
