<B>1894 $1 MS63 NGC.</B></I> The 1894, with its low mintage of 110,000 pieces, is a coin that is as rare as its mintage indicates. In fact, it is so scarce that on several coins the mintmark has been removed from an 1894-O or S. One diagnostic of a genuine P-mint is the short, horizontal die scratch on the reverse near the eagle's right (facing) claw. This is a strongly struck coin that has even gray-brown patina over each side and subdued, satin-like mint luster. Remarkably clean for an MS63.<BR><BR><B>Coin Engraver:</B> George T.
