12" x 9". This is a souvenir from the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois, which was held to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the famous 1492 voyage of Christopher Columbus to the New World. It is made of cast iron and plated with copper, made by Golden Novelty Mfg. Co. of Chicago. The main figure in the decorative motif of the case is a gargantuan Columbus standing on the deck of his flagship, the Santa Maria, as it lands on the shore. On the sail is a clock, and to the left is an eagle on a globe that reads "AMERICA". This is in excellent condition, a great piece to have.
