1893-CC S$1 MS64 PCGS. On November 1, 1893, newly elected President Grover Cleveland saw to the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890, drastically reducing the requirement for silver dollars over the next few years. Secretary of the Treasury John G. Carlisle and Mint Director Robert E. Preston seized the chance to terminate coinage operations at the Carson City Mint, making 1893 the last date ever stamped on a U.S. coin with the CC mintmark (save for the 1900-O/CC error silver dollars) (Rusty Goe, The Mint on Carson Street).
While Gem examples of the 1893-CC Morgan are elusive, near-Gems are considerably more available. This piece offers gorgeous cobalt-blue and pinkish-orange toning on the obverse, with amber-gold and magenta patina on the reverse. Considerable luster radiates from beneath the deep coloration, and relevant marks are few. PCGS has certified only seven coins finer (4/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
