1893-CC$1> MS64 PCGS. The 1893-CC dollar marks the end of an era, the final year of coinage production from the historic Carson City mint. It is also a low mintage issue with only 677,000 pieces struck. The typical survivor is softly struck and heavily abraded, which is what sets this coin apart from others. Both sides exude thick cartwheel mint frost and the striking details are nearly complete on each side, something that is certainly not taken for granted on an 1893-CC. Minimally abraded, the surfaces show only the slightest marks and luster grazes that keep the coin from the Gem category. Most of the nicks seem to be located in the left obverse field, the largest open area in the design which is most likely to receive contact. Generally untoned throughout, there are hints of tan patina at the central regions, particularly on the obverse. An exceptional, high-end MS64 example of this key issue and sure to be of interest to a wide range of bidders.
