1893-CC S$1 MS63 PCGS. After the 1889-CC and 1879-CC, the 1893-CC is the most elusive Morgan Dollar from the Carson City Mint. It is also a historically significant coin as the final Silver Dollar produced at the fabled Nevada branch mint--a fact that only enhances its popularity among specialists. This is an issue that is not represented by quantities of Uncirculated survivors in today's hobby. On the contrary, when Mint State coins are available, it will usually be one at a time, and the typical representative is noticeably bagmarked and confined to the MS60-MS62 grade range. Smoother than normal for the date, this Select quality coin displays only a few scattered bagmarks that are well concealed by a dusting of moderate lilac-gray patina. The luster is appreciably frosty in sheen with modest hints of brightness in the open fields. Softness of strike is noted over the central highpoints, and reverse rollermarks (as produced) are also seen over and around the eagle's breast. From the Hans Poetsch Collection.
