1893-CC<S$1> MS61 NGC. The '93-CC has always been a collectors' favorite due to its scarcity and its position as the last Carson City Mint coin of its denomination. In terms of availability in Mint State, David Bowers (1993) writes that "it is third rarest after 1889-CC (rarest) and 1879-CC." This piece displays faint tan color on portions of the Liberty and eagle motifs and around the rims. The fields are somewhat prooflike, and establish a mild contrast with the design elements. Strike weakness is apparent on the hair over Liberty's ear and on the eagle's breast. This relatively attractive coin would grade higher were it not for the luster grazes and scuffs on Liberty's cheek and neck and in the left (facing) obverse field.
