1893-CC<$20> MS62 PCGS. Frosty luster throughout and a typical strong strike. The surfaces are attractive for the grade with no deep or distracting marks on Liberty's face and neck. Ever popular for the Carson City Mintmark and the final year of coinage for this Mint. Once Grover Cleveland returned to the presidency in 1893, he set to task to close this Mint as he felt it was an unnecessary extravagance and a waste of taxpayers money. Cleveland felt that the San Francisco Mint was more than able to handle the coinage needs of the West, and the hazards of shipping bullion from the Nevada mines to San Francisco had become much safer with better railroad service in that period. An excellent choice for the collector, and scarce any finer than seen here. Population: 116 in 62, 17 finer (6/05).
